FLOAT is a floating artist residency and community-led creative collective based on the waters of Bung Yarnda / Lake Tyers and in Lakes Entrance, East Gippsland. At its centre is a handcrafted vessel — part studio, part artwork — inviting artists, thinkers and makers to live, work and connect with place.

But FLOAT is more than the vessel. It’s a growing ecosystem of alternative education, local collaboration and creative action. Programs like the Feral MBA and FLOAT CAAMP challenge conventional ideas of business, learning and sustainability. Community-run spaces like the Slipway and Iceworks host exhibitions, open mic nights, repair workshops, weaving groups, tech labs, markets, and more — all driven by care, creativity and collective energy.

FLOAT is a living experiment in how art and community can shape a more connected, regenerative future.
